When people think about booking a bridal hair and makeup artist, they usually think about the obvious bit — the curls, the eyeshadow, that first glance at the finished look in the mirror. And yes, that's a big part of what we do. One we love! But if you ask any bride who's had us with her on the morning of her wedding, she'll probably tell you it was about so much more than the final product.

Calm Your Wedding Nerves

Wedding mornings are exciting, not a doubt. But you’d be surprised how nerve-wracking they can be too! There’s a lot riding on the day, and it’s completely normal to feel a flutter or nerves as you sit down in the chair. A big part of our job is simply being a calm, familiar face in the room. Someone who’s done this hundreds of times before and knows exactly what needs to be done and how to help you settle. We’re often the first step on the actual wedding day, so we’re usually there when it hits you that TODAY is your wedding day. So we chat, we laugh, and we take our time. By the time we’re finished, most brides tell us they feel more relaxed than when we started, not less.

Keeping The Morning Running Smoothly

Every wedding morning has a lot of moving parts. There’s a bride to get ready, plus bridesmaids and parents, a photographer arriving, decorations and cakes being set up, and a timeline to stick to. That’s a lot to keep in your head at once. Luckily, we’ve been part of enough weddings to know how to keep things flowing gently in the background without ever feeling rushed or stressful. We’re happy to be a steady, reassuring presence to help hold the whole morning together so that you can just enjoy yourself.

An Open Ear

Before a single brush touches your face, we’ve spent time getting to know you. All of those months of planning we’ve been in the background learning. What do you love about yourself? What are you nervous about? Do you want to feel like a slightly glossier version of yourself, or more elevated? There’s no right answer to those questions, and we never assume. On the day, we’re still listening. We sit and chat before we start to get an idea of your headspace and what you need from us on the day, and we do it. That listening is what allows us to do everything we do and create a look that’s genuinely, completely ‘you’ and not some bridal template.

A Little Emotional Support

Such a big event can bring up all sorts of feelings – tears included! We’ve sat with brides missing a loved one who couldn’t be there, brides feeling overwhelmed by how quickly the day has come, and brides who just need someone to tell them they look beautiful before they see themselves in the mirror. Sad tears or happy, we’re here to be with you through them, and wipe your eyes afterwards. We consider it an honour to be trusted with those moments.

Set the Energy

Now this might just be our opinion, but a great bridal team doesn’t just do great makeup and hair. It’s our job to bring good energy into the room. We want your getting-ready time to be full of laughter, lovely conversation and happy memories. Not just something you have to sit through before the ‘real’ part of the day begins. It is part of your day, and you should thoroughly enjoy it!
